Evelyn Fry, 92 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Evergreen Place in Beardstown.
She was born March 9, 1923 in Beardstown, the daughter of Clarence and Alice Boice. She married Durward L. Fry on December 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1987.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah (husband Greg) Wessel of Yates City; four grandchildren Daniel L. Fry, Cheri Fry, Brett A. (wife Paige) Wessel, and Trea C. Wessel-Barrett; seven grandchildren Logan, Ashley, Cody, Courtney, Emma, Eli, and Roan; two brothers Don (wife Deloras) Boice of Beardstown and Charles (wife Charlene) Boice of Washington, IL; and one sister Judy Clements of Waynesville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Daniel L. (surviving wife Connie) Fry of Frederick, and one sister Geraldine Newell.
Mrs. Fry graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1941 and then moved to Washington, DC. There, she worked for the government, a part of her job description she danced the jitter bug twice a week with service men for the USO. After the Pearl Harbor Attack, she and her husband worked on Army Base. Evelyn enjoyed spending her time in the kitchen cooking for the family. She had a special place in her heart for animals. Evelyn had a special friend at Evergreen Place. Holly the residents rescued cocker spaniel and her became quite the companions. Most of all she cherished her family and will be dearly missed by them.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.
Memorials have been suggested to Literberry Baptist Church.
