David Weston Moore

David Weston Moore, age 63, of Springfield, died Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home.

He was born February 8, 1963, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Joe Weston Moore and F. Muriel Wren Moore.

He is survived by two sons, Adam Moore of Lumberton, TX and his mother, Jennifer Moore of Lexington, KY, and Maxwell Moore of Virginia and his mother, Victory Davidsmeier of Virginia; two granddaughters, Harper and Millie Moore; one brother, Bill Moore; his niece, Meredith Moore Christopher (husband Mark) and their children; and his beloved dog Thunder. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, John Sparks; and his brother, Frank Moore.

David graduated from Lafayette Senior High School in Lexington, KY, with the Class of 1981. He later earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Kentucky. Throughout his career, he remained dedicated to social work, serving in schools, community health, inpatient care, and hospice care. Most recently, he was employed at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

David had a lifelong interest in technology and enjoyed building computers and gaming. He valued fitness and healthy living and especially enjoyed grilling. Above all, David was extremely proud of his sons and cherished the many memories they created together, especially their deep-sea fishing trips.

Honoring David's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and his ashes will be scattered in a body of water at a later date. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
