David Fischer

David Bruce "Dave" Fischer, 70, of Arenzville, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born July 16, 1954, in Beardstown, the son of William Jack & Anna Carolyn Cooper Fischer. He married Dana Willene Ogilvie on December 29, 1984, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown.

He is survived by his wife Dana Fischer of Arenzville; three children daughter Cassie Alloway (husband Andrew) of Beardstown, son Billy Dawson (wife Hannah) of Beardstown, and son Joey Dawson (wife Brook) of Rushville; grandchildren Fischer and Drew Alloway, Eli, Jude, and Asher Dawson, and Olivia Dawson; sisters Mary (husband Phillip) Murray and Linda (husband Brad) Spears both of Beardstown; brothers Steven W. (wife Billie Sue) Fischer of Beardstown and Jim (wife Karen) Fischer of Colorado and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave graduated from Beardstown High School in 1972 and U of I Springfield in 1995, where he attained his C.P.A. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for several years and later owned and operated Bel-Aire Subs and Suds Pub. After achieving his accounting degree and C.P.A. license, he worked as an auditor for the I.L. Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2016.

Dave was a baptized and confirmed member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, where he served on church counsel. He was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #1007, Beardstown Lions Club where he initiated the Reverse Raffle, and Ansar Shriners Cass Lodge #23. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid Cardinal's fan and time spent with his family brought him the most joy.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 29, 2024, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM Sunday at the church. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
