Charles Reynolds

April 4, 1933 — November 24, 2022

Charles Edward Reynolds, 89 of Niantic, died Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born April 4, 1933 in Springfield, the son of John and Velma Reynolds. He married Frances Ann Pace on September 18, 1959 in Decatur.

He is survived by his wife Ann of Niantic; his three sons Doug (wife Lesli) Reynolds of Springfield, Daniel Reynolds of Niantic, and Derek (wife Amber) Reynolds of Forsyth; three grandchildren Cameron, Ella, and Lucy Reynolds; one brother Harold Reynolds of Decatur, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John “Junior” Reynolds, and his half-sister Sonja Bunning.

Charlie attended Pleasant Hill grade school in Springfield and later earned his GED. His strong work ethic began at a young age when he started helping his mother at her in-home nursing care business. He then honorably served two years in the United States Coast Guard. Charlie and his wife owned and operated Acme Janitorial Service for 5 years and he then worked for 25 years at Decatur Memorial Hospital before retiring. However, Charlie never truly retired and was always tinkering or fixing something, and remodeling his home. Throughout his life, Charlie liked to spend his free time working in his yard. He started riding motorcycles at a young age and continued his passion for Harley Davidson all his life. Charlie liked to hunt with his dog Bell, shoot trap, and ride horses. His time spent on the water, camping and boating with his wife and family, allowed for many fond memories and will continue to be shared for years to come.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been suggested to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.DementiaSociety.org/donate. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
