Charles Richard “Rich” Leonhard, 74 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

He was born January 23, 1941 in Beardstown the son of Lloyd Richard and Hazel M. Young Leonhard. He married Geraldine “Geri” Knous on November 19, 1960 in Salem, AR.

He is survived by his wife Geri Leonhard of Beardstown; four children Debra Phelps of Cameron, MO, Tim (wife Gail) Leonhard of Beardstown, Patricia Leonhard (companion Nikki Pilger) of Beardstown and Jessica Diane Cobb of Argyle, WI; six grandchildren Travis Phelps, Jessica Fishel, Emily and Lauren Leonhard, and J.R. and Stevie Cobb; two great grandchildren Emeliah and Ian Fishel; one brother Leo Leonhard of Arenzville; and one sister Joyce (husband Terry) Clark of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mary Alice Finch and Sue Lamb, and a granddaughter Haley Cobb.

Rich attended Beardstown High School and then started his career with Ohio River Company. He loved the river and spent many years working with the Jacksonville Labor’s local #253. Rich could easily be found outdoors hunting and fishing in his spare time or lending a helping hand to his family and friends. You could always catch him watching a NASCAR Race or a Chicago Bears game. Being with is family brought him the most joy.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday at the memorial home
