Carole Bowman

Carole Ann DeSollar Bowman was born in the kitchen of her family's home in Beardstown on a cold, snowy January 20, 1937. She was the second of two daughters born to Leland and Marcella Davidsmeier DeSollar. Weighing just 4 pounds, 3 ounces at birth, Carole was a fighter her entire life.

Carole attended St. John's Lutheran School from first through eighth grade. It was during her eighth-grade year that she met Robert "Bobby" Bowman, who would later become her husband.

Bob and Carole were married for 64 years before his passing in 2016. Together, they raised three children: Bob Bowman Jr. (Layla) of Pasco, Washington; Janet (Bowman) McGovern (Bill) of Beardstown; and Don Bowman of Orofino, Idaho. Carole deeply loved her family and often shared pictures of her children, her twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carole was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jean and Jim Harrison, as well as a very special niece, great-nephew, and great-granddaughter.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date to accommodate family travel. Information regarding this event will be forthcoming. Colwell Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
