Sue Fischer

Billie Sue Fischer, 74, of Beardstown, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born September 17, 1951, in Beardstown, the daughter of James E. and Vivian Vyrene Wells Wilhite. She married Steven "Steve" Fischer on August 8, 1981, at Lottie Morrow's home in Beardstown, and he survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Chad Fischer (wife Alyssa) of Beardstown and William "LJ" Thompson of Beardstown; six grandchildren, Karsen Fischer, Cole Thompson (wife Courtney), Jade Bellew, Gwen Thompson, Owen Thompson, and Alayna Dehne; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Debbie Campbell of Beardstown; and her niece, Holly Logan (husband Allen). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mike Wilhite.

Sue graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1969 and began her working career at the Illinois Glove Factory, where she remained until the birth of her son, Chad. She later returned to the workforce, working at Rexall Pharmacy and Mulconrey's before finishing her career with 4-All Seasons in Beardstown.

Sue was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She treasured time spent with her close friends, Linda Looker, Linda Savage, Janie Malcomson, and Mattie Looker, and always enjoyed going out for a good fish dinner. Above all, Sue had a caring heart and found great joy in taking care of her family and her beloved cats, Lucky, Little Britches, and Ben.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and private family graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown. A celebration of life and fish fry will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 in Beardstown. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
