Beatrice Ann "Bea" Coats, 95 of Beardstown, died Monday, August 21, 2023 at her home.

She was born April 6, 1928 in Beardstown, the daughter of William C. and Ula M. Wise Blohm. She married Milton D. Coats on April 1, 1950 and he preceded her on death on April 16, 2000.

She is survived by one son Thomas D. (wife Veronica) Coats of Concord; four daughters Ann (husband Tim) Chilton , Linda (late husband Terry) Hager of Beardstown, Joyce (husband Dennis) Krohe all of Beardstown, and Brenda (husband Robert) Patterson of Benton, AR; eight grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Paul "Butch", two sisters Helen Kramer and Mary Crum, and a brother John Blohm.

Beatrice graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1946. She worked for Pats Market in Beardstown, Snack Shack in Beardstown, and retired from Beardstown School District working in the cafeteria after many years. She was a natural caregiver not only raising her children but also caring for many of her family members. Beatrice was a life long member of First United Methodist Church in Beardstown and was always willing to volunteer whenever the church needed help. She enjoyed traveling with the Golden Age bus group hosted by the State Bank, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, sitting around a campfire, and playing Bingo at the Golden Age Center. Bea loved spending time outdoors whether it was in her flower garden, taking care of the yard or feeding the birds and squirrels. She was a devoted mother and faithful friend to all those who knew her.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Beardstown City Cemetery, with Reverend Mel Nielsen officiating. There will not be a visitation. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
