Barbara Jean “Barb” Arenz, 58 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at her home.

She was born March 26, 1958 in Madison, WI the daughter of Donald E. and Patricia Wipperfurth Swingle.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela (husband Terry) Cadwell of Beardstown; her father Donald Swingle, her granddaughter Calissa Cadwell; two brothers Dale (wife Lisa) Swingle of Arenzville and Danny (wife Jo) Swingle of Virginia; three sisters Judith (husband Lynn) Norris of Chandlerville, Rita (husband Doug) Holman of Greenville, and Mary (husband Joe) Shevlin of Triumph; her previous husband Chris Arenz of Nebraska; her companion Duke Walters of Beardstown; her mother in law Lee Arenz of Beardstown and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Barb graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1976. She retired from Cass County Human Resource Center after twenty years of service. She was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church. Barb was an avid fan of Aerosmith and playing the game of chance at various Casino’s. She loved celebrating the 4th of July and watching fireworks. Spending time with her family brought her happiness but most of all her granddaughter was her greatest joy.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown with Father Hyland Smith officiating. Family burial will be held at a later date in Wisconsin. The family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM Friday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Calissa’s Education Fund.
