Alberta Mattson

Alberta Lucille Mattson, age 74 of Texas and formerly of Beardstown, died Monday, September 19, 2016.

She was born March 4, 1942 in Cass County, the daughter of Clyde Samuel Alvin and Lena Viola Waugh Lashbrook.

She is survived by her children Ronald of Columbia, SC, Donald (wife Dorothy) of Sicklerville, NJ, James (wife Wendi) of Plymouth, IL, Steven (wife Lori) of Jacksonville, FL, Allen of Temple, TX, Leonard (wife Rhonda) of Waco, TX, Carole of Temple, TX, Goldie of Plymouth, IL, and Launa of Temple, TX; nine grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother Alvin Lee Lashbrook of Camp Point, and four sisters Shirley (husband George) Norton of Rushville, Dana (husband John) Hammes of Mattoon, Linda (husband Orville) Williams of Frederick, and Sandra (husband Roger) Brown of Monmouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Norman and Scotty.

Alberta had great love for her family. She spent her earlier years as a homemaker spending her time raising her children. In her later years, Alberta enjoyed being a grandmother and great grandmother. She had many hobbies that brought her delight which included gardening, canning, sewing, crochet, needle point, drawing and painting.

A Celebration will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday at Colwell Memorial Home.
