Rick A. Taylor, age 61 of Beardstown, died Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born February 11, 1960 in Rushville, the son of Lyle O. Taylor, Jr and Doris Moore. He married Howard Stephen Dyche on August 1, 2014 after 19 years of partnership.
He is survived by his husband Steve Dyche of Beardstown; his mother Doris Moore of Beardstown, father in law Mike (wife Joyce) Dyche of Rushville and mother in law Maxine Hester of Frederick; his brother Douglas (life partner Vonnie Stambaugh) Taylor of Beardstown, brother in law Mike (wife Angie) Dyche of Rushville; a niece Kaitlyn Bagley; three nephews Keaton and Hunter Taylor and Keaton Dyche: a great niece and two great nephews; numerous aunts and uncles; and two spoiled fur children Jasper and Romeo.
He was preceded in death by his father, stepmother Shirley Taylor, a brother Lyle Taylor III, and several aunts and uncles.
Rick graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1978. Following high school, he worked at Roe Food Service in the meat department as a meat cutter. He loved working and caring for others. Rick started his EMS journey at St. John’s becoming a Paramedic in 1986. He was also a licensed Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. He worked his whole career as a paramedic, ER Tech or in a Cath lab serving the communities of Havana, Beardstown, Springfield, Macomb, Jacksonville, traveling to other States and most recently Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. Rick was a member of Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007. In his free time, he volunteered for numerous community events and helped those in need. He had a passion for concerts and camping but also loved fellowshipping with friends over a nice dinner. His years of servanthood have left a lasting impression in the lives of so many and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Steve and the family would like to extend a personal Thank you to the staff at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for their attentive care they provided to Rick these final days of his life.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will meet with friends from 5-8 PM Monday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Private family burial will be held.
