Karen Louise Hatfield, 70 of Beardstown, was called home Tuesday, November 10, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born July 11, 1952 in Beardstown, the daughter of Lewis G. “Louie” and Phyllis A. Brewer McCulley. She married James Hatfield on March 19, 1976 in and he survives in Beardstown.
She is also survived by a daughter Holly Dyche of Arizona; her son James (wife Wendy) Hatfield of Beardstown; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers Lewis Paul (wife Cynthia) McCulley of Arenzville, Randy Ray (wife Cheryl) McCulley of Macomb, and Bleu Shawn McCulley of Beardstown; several nieces and nephews; and her granddog Rocko.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Denise Dyche, and a sister-in-law Jennifer McCulley.
Karen attended Beardstown High School. She was employed by Capitol Records in Jacksonville, Excel in Beardstown, Bartlow Brothers in Rushville, Body Image Fitness and Tanning in Beardstown and her favorite responsibility was raising her family. She had a passion for shopping and would take anyone along that wanted to go. Karen could get lost inside a store looking for the perfect items to purchase for hours at a time. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Jim and visiting her daughter in Arizona. Karen was kindhearted but most of all she wanted the best for her family and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will follow in St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the memorial home.
