John Roope

John William Roope, age 66 of Beardstown, died Monday, February 7, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born July 20, 1955 in Christiansburg, VA, the son of Jim and Shelby Shrewsbury Roope. He married Sherry Pherigo on October 2, 2015 in Rushville and she survives.

He is also survived by four children Evan (companion Emily Marie Pierce) Roope of Texas, Andy Welte, Stephanie (husband Anthony) Poulter, and Emily (husband John) Creech; six grandchildren Kassidy, Isaiah, Grace, Kaleb, Terrance, and Jacob; one great-granddaughter Copeland; five sisters Kimberly (husband Steve) Brumfield of Virginia, Jennie Stewart of Tennessee, and Rebecca, Kelly, and Melissa Kirby; and one brother Bill (wife Betty) Kirby of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John graduated from Christiansburg High School in Virginia and from college in Florida. He worked for Chaddock in Quincy with Caregiver Connections for over 25 years. He assisted with many youth and the elderly families, and also traveled the state giving many trainings pertaining to his job. John enjoyed music and played guitar in a band and sang. He was an avid knife collector and spent his free time on his many computers or tablets. John will be missed by all who knew him.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1-4 PM Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no formal services.
