Charles Anthony Gutmann, 64 of Ashland, died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at his home. He was born May 5, 1958 in Springfield, the son of Charles Anthony and Joyce Mesojednic Gutmann. He married Sandra Clark on January 23, 2004 and she survives in Ashland.
He is also survived by a son Chuckie (wife Calissa) Boesecker of Huntington Beach, CA ; a step daughter Stephanie Phillips (companion Kyle Tuey) of Roodhouse; a step son Ronnie Inman, Jr (companion Lindsey Anthony) of Roodhouse; eight grandchildren; a sister Vicki (husband Kevin) Schoonever of Ashland; two brothers Tony Gutmann of Arizona and Kent (wife Karen) Gutmann of Ashland; two nieces Crystal Taapken of Chicago and Katlyn Gutmann of Ashland; his Uncle Mark (wife Suzi) Mesojednic of Ashland; and his close friend Mike (wife Cheryl) Huff of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Chris Gutmann, a nephew Chad Taapken, and an Uncle Mike (deceased wife Marge) Mesojednic.
Chuck attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach, CA. Later in life, he moved to Illinois to be closer to family and worked as a farmer for Jim and Carolyn Deppe. Most recently, he worked as a Plasterers & Cement Mason for OPCMIA Local 18 out of Springfield, IL. In his free-time he loved nothing more than spending his time fishing with his brother, target shooting, hanging out at his brother's shop, cooking out and spending time at Crazy Horse Campground. Chuck and Sandra found themselves content just relaxing in front of the television with each other by their sides or spending evenings with their dear friends Mike and Cheryl Huff.
A celebration of life and meal will be held from 1-3 PM Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Walby’s in Ashland with a meal provided by First Baptist Church of Ashland. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
